LETTER: Graveyard grievances II

We feel that under the present difficult times many in the area are experiencing, this is not the time to for more taxes.

Editor:

With respect to the notice sent out to Christina Lake residents regarding the upcoming vote for funding for a cemetery site, while we don’t object to a cemetery site at Christina Lake in principal, we feel that under the present difficult times many in the area are experiencing, this is not the time to saddle the taxpayers of our community with more taxes.

If the regional director and others in the community want the site re-activated, we suggest they get out their rakes, hoes, shovels etc. and get to work.

Many communities have cemeteries that are maintained by volunteers.  We also would be willing to help.

Therefore, we suggest that any tax increase to fund the cemetery project be put on hold at this time. Thank you,

Ian and Faye Brooker, Christina Lake
