March 23, 1940 to October 09, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Bill passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his family on October 9, 2011.

He is survived by his loving wife Marcia, with whom he just celebrated 49 years; his children: Ryan (Alana), Alana (Brad) and Christy (Neil): and the five grandchildren he cherished so much: Melissa, Caleb, Jonah, Linden and Isaac; and his brothers, Jim and Larry.

Bill's passion in life was his family, his business and his friends. He owned B & F Sales and Service for 47 years and when asked how he was today, you would often hear him say, “I’m here because I’m not all there”. Bill was a real people person. As much as we all admired his skill as a mechanic it was his ability to relate to people that left its mark.

He enjoyed travelling with his wife Marcia, and his favorite destination was Hawaii. Bill found it easy to relax in Hawaii and it was there he found the most peace among the sun, sand, trees and locals.

Bill always made room in his life for his children and eventually his grandchildren. His eyes would shine with love and pride anytime any one of his grandchildren came to visit or were lucky enough to spend the night with grandpa.

Willy, dad, grandpa, brother, friend - we are sad to have to let you go but we take comfort in having loved and known you. We all miss you and will love you forever.

“We knew little that day that God was going to call your name,

In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us wonderful memories; your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.”

A service has already taken place. Grand Forks Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.
