Lorna “Jean” Marie Clifton (nee Dinsmore) passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Boundary Hospital at the age of 91. Jean was born and lived most of her life in Grand Forks. Her first job was at the old Grand Forks Hospital working in the laundry. She also worked as a supervisor in the cannery, for Clark’s Clothing Store and eventually in the telephone office before marrying the love of her life, Gordon, in April of 1953. Jean and Gordon eventually built a home at Christina Lake, which they loved and stayed at until moving back into Grand Forks in 1999. Jean’s passion was working in her yard. She loved getting her hands in the dirt.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Gordon; parents, Thomas “Stack” and Clara Dinsmore; brothers, Aubrey and Raymond Dinsmore; and sister, Lois Waters. She is lovingly survived by son, Ronald (Linda) Clifton; Ron’s sister, Roxy (Dave) Agar; grandchildren: Mark Clifton, Lisa Agar (Rick) and Marnie Birkeland (Jared); sister, Doris (Andy) Tivald; nieces: Tracey Jonsson (Bjorn), Jacquie Stegner and Laurie Dinsmore; as well as her many good friends.
A “celebration” of Jean’s life will be held on December 4, 2010, at 1 p.m., at the Gospel Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Boundary Hospital. Grand Forks Funeral Home were in care of arrangements.
