Doris Loreen Machum passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side, on January 22, 2016 in Auxiliary Manor at Hardy View Lodge, Grand Forks, B.C. She was born on June 30, 1919 in Brandon, Manitoba to parents Ethel and Delmar Hunt.
Doris married Donald Charles Machum on February 5, 1941, in Calgary, Alberta. They were married for 60 years before Don’s passing in 2002. Doris was a grand baker, baking bread into her 90’s. She enjoyed extensive travelling throughout North America with husband Don, they were also inveterate “rock hounds”. Doris enjoyed her time with family the most.
Doris was predeceased by parents; Ethel and Delmar Hunt, step-mother; Mae, husband; Don, brother; Ronald, sisters; June and Marjory, sister-in-law; Mary, brothers-in-law; Ken and Bob, grandson; Doug.
She is survived by her children; Dale Machum, Doreen Sorensen, Delmar Machum (Joan), grandchildren; Dawn Wrangler (Terry), Stephen Trickett, Denise Holtorf (Jesse), Janine Bezpaluk (Ghislain Prince), Jon Bezpaluk (Justine), Donald Sorensen (Catharine), Brennan Sorensen (Naomi), Darryl Machum, David Machum (Debbie), Karen Caldwell (Alan), Daniel Machum, great grandchildren; Ashley, Sarah, Ryan, Evan, Brandon, Logan, Kasia, Gunnar, Aurora, and Gavin, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Alexandra Butts of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
