The City of Grand Forks has selected a company to design its new website.

Castlegar’s Pro-Creative Design Lab was awarded the contract to design and develop the website for the amount of $10,000.

According to City Chief Administrative Officer Lynne Burch, the company will have until July to complete work on the new site.

Coun. Chris Moslin said that there was a lengthy checklist and the Web Site Ad Hoc committee examined what it thought was needed and what the proponents offered.

Consideration was also given to value for the money and cost.

After interviewing three of the proponents, the committee felt that Pro-Creative technically looked to be the most eager, Moslin said.

“They are very familiar with the city, they’ve actually already done a website about the city – at welcomemap.ca, I believe – and they were able to convince the committee that they had the know-how and the energy to provide us with the brand new look on our website and increase the level of interactivity of that website with the user.”

Moslin said the content management system would allow city staff to easily update information on the website.

At Feb. 28’s city council meeting, Coun. Gene Robert wondered if there were any local submissions considered for the project.

“How was the rationale for making the decision made?” he asked.

“I believe there were nine proposals submitted,” responded Moslin.

“One of those was a Grand Forks proposal and these other ones were fairly local.

“Pro-Creative is from Castlegar and we also shortlisted another proponent from Rossland and another from Kelowna and Nelson.”

Moslin said that Pro-Creative Design Lab also designed the website for Community Futures.
