Terry Fox Run set for Sept. 16 in Grand Forks, B.C.

Grand Forks will keep Terry Fox's dream alive with the 32nd annual Run for Cancer Research on Sunday, Sept. 16.

On Sunday, Sept. 16, Grand Forks will continue to keep Terry Fox’s dream alive with the 32nd annual Run for Cancer Research. The community run will take place at the Grand Forks Recreation Centre (outside aquatic centre main entrance).

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the run will start at 10 a.m. Come out to this all- inclusive, non-competitive event and share in Terry’s dream of a cancer free world.

Terry Fox is a symbol of hope that touches the hearts of not only Canadians, but people around the world. His desire and passion for spreading awareness for the need to raise funds for cancer research has left an immeasurable impact on our lives and a legacy, which will not be forgotten.

Since Terry’s Marathon of Hope in 1980, The Terry Fox Foundation has raised over $600 million for cancer research and proudly donates 84¢ of every dollar towards finding a cure.

Donna White, provincial director of The Terry Fox Foundation BC and Yukon, explains that, “The wonderful part about his legacy is that it’s not just about the type of cancer Terry had, or cancers affecting youth, or men, or women. The foundation funds research in to all kinds of cancer believing, as Terry did, that we need to conquer this disease once and for all, for everybody.”

The community of Midway is still in need of a volunteer run organizer however.

If you are interested in a wonderful opportunity to support a great cause and help other people share in Terry’s dream, please contact the Terry Fox Foundation provincial office at 1-888-836-9786.

We would be pleased to help anyone who is interested in taking on this role, as it would be a shame for the community of Midway to not have a run this year.
