REC REPORT: Mind your nutrition in March

Fun activities for kids on March break at the Grand Forks Recreation Centre.

March is Nutrition Month and Grand Forks Recreation (GFREC) would like to help you get started eating healthier and learn the difference about what is good and what is not when it comes to the food we eat.

Canada’s Food Guide is built on healthy eating practices, which will help meet your needs for vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.

Making healthy food choices helps reduce your risk of obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer and osteoporosis.

Nutrition information has never been more accessible than right now. Millions of Canadians have ready and easy access to the Internet and other forms of social media.

You must consider where the information is coming from and make sure you are researching credible sites.

Small changes can make huge difference to the way you feel and look in a short time.

The arena is still open for the month of March. If your child has a birthday this month, let us help you with your party plans.

Bring the kids on Fridays from 1:45 to 3:30 p.m. for loonie/toonie public skating or the other option is to book private ice and enjoy the entire facility with family and friends.

The viewing room is available to rent during all ice rentals.

Kids can drop into casual hockey on Fridays from 11:15 to 12:15pm.  They must be fully geared to take part in this one-hour session.
