REC REPORT: Don't short circuit, start training today

Circuit training is a great way to get a time-efficient workout that offers muscle toning and fat loss.

Circuit training is a great way to get a time-efficient workout that offers muscle toning and fat loss.

It uses exercises to improve endurance and cardiovascular health. It involves moving from one exercise to the next with little or no rest.

Instructors can incorporate any number of exercises to either make the workout geared towards endurance/cardio or resistance based, offering a complete full body workout.

The circuit is designed to be easy to follow and the intensity is what you make it to be.

Circuit Shape Up Fall 2011 is a circuit-training program that will be instructed by our well-experienced fitness instructors. Classes will be held at the Grand Forks Aquatic Centre fitness room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., starting Oct. 11. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 4.

We require minimum number participants before the program runs, so register early.

An Aquafit program is based on a low to no impact exercise program. The water is buoyant which helps take the impact off your joints and muscles. Get an excellent cardio and muscle conditioning workout tailored to your fitness level.

The water provides resistance to movement in all directions, providing you with the feeling of intensity, rather than merely drifting. Experience a balanced workout, which will keep you injury free and strengthen your body core.

Aquafit to the Max classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. starting Oct. 17. Deadline to register for this nine-week program is Oct.11.

Adult recreational hockey teams have allocated ice times during the week. If you are interested in playing on a recreational team, please give us a call for the contact information for individual teams.

Come cheer on our 2011/2012 Border Bruins’ team during its exhibition game on Thursday, Sept. 1 starting at 7:30 p.m. The concession will be open and Ron and Iris will be ready to cook you up a dish of their famous french fries.
