Grand Forks Border Bruins suffer consecutive shutout losses

The Grand Forks Border Bruins will be looking to bounce back after an 11-0 loss to Castlegar and a 15-0 loss to Beaver Valley.

After a 3-2 overtime loss to the Sicamous Eagles on Jan. 6, the Grand Forks Border Bruins suffered a pair of lopsided losses.

The team was shut out 11-0 in a home loss to the Castlegar Rebels Thursday and 15-0 by  the Beaver Valley Nitehawks on Sunday in an afternoon road game.

Goalie Robert Dunsmuir was in net vs. the Rebels, stopping 42 of 53 shots while, he (six saves on 15 shots) and Dominic Stadnyk (15 saves on 21 shots) shared duties against Beaver Valley.

“We are a team that has completely lost its way. The focus, effort, commitment to playing 60 minutes, were not there,” said Border Bruins’ head coach and GM Nick Deschenes. “There is a reason that Castlegar and Beaver Valley are in the top three in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL). They are good teams. Are they 10 to 15 goals better than us? I don’t think so. But when we don’t show up they are.”
