After jumping out to a 2-1 lead in the first period, the Grand Forks Border Bruins dropped a home game to the Nelson Leafs by a final of 5-3.
Coleton Dawson and Chase Anchikoski scored in the first period for the Border Bruins and the team left the opening stanza up 2-1.
Nelson tied it up at 13:39 in the second period but Connor Gross scored to enable Grand Forks to leave the second period with a 3-2 lead.
The Nelson Leafs scored three times in the third period, including a late short-handed marker.
Gross and Anchikoski were named second and third stars of the game respectively.
The team travels to Nelson tonight to play the final game of the current home-and-home series before returning to Grand Forks to host the Kimberley Dynamiters on Saturday night – puck drops for that game at 7:30 p.m.
