Enter February with dance

Grand Forks Recreation offers new dance programs and Bronze Medallion and Cross camp in the coming month

Can you believe January has come and is almost gone?

Grand Forks Recreation (GFREC) staff has been busy creating programs to help get us through the month of February and into the spring.

Do you feel that you have two left feet when you try dancing? Gisela Ko can help you get your right and left feet in the proper positions with her adult ballet lessons.

The word ballet can be frightening to some but this is a great alternative to fitness classes. Dancing can teach us proper posture, exercises the mind and works on the inner-core muscles, making this a full body workout.

Classes will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. for six sessions. Deadline to register is Jan. 31.

GFREC wants to help keep you on track during these winter months by offering an opportunity to complete a triathlon in a month. You can choose your own distance and activity.

When you have completed the distance of choice, your name will be entered into a draw that will take place at the end of February.

Use this opportunity to start your training for the 2012 Christina Lake Triathlon that will take place on Sunday, June 24.

Are you thinking about getting out of the cold and heading somewhere warm in the next month?  Sheldon Boyd would like to introduce adults to scuba. Take advantage of this introductory session on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. Space is limited so call today to register. Registration deadline is Sunday, Feb. 5.

If you love the aquatics and love teaching children, this is a perfect opportunity for you to start working towards your water safety instructor certification.

Spring Break Red Cross lessons will be held the week of March 26 to 30. This will be the final set before the summer lessons.

Work on your next level and have fun at the pool while you are off school for a break. Deadline to register will be March 19.
