Riders from all over gathered at the newly christened Dave Swetland Memorial Trail on May 31 for the inaugural ride.

Mountain bike riders from the Kettle River Valley, the Okanagan, and the Slocan Valley gathered to do the inaugural ride on the new Dave Swetland Memorial Trail in Fife.

Dave, son of Pete and Emily Swetland,  grew up in Fife and established a reputation as one of the most accomplished and extreme mountain bike riders in the Kootenays until his untimely death several years ago.

Many of his friends and family gathered for the dedication of the trail and to enjoy the exciting new single track ride, complete with some challenging features and fast flowing sections sure to please all levels of riders.

The trail was constructed by the Christina Lake Trail Crew, Keith Dickson and Adam Williams, who designed, gazzeted and built it all. The Trail Crew is funded by the Christina Lake Parks and Recreation Commission and is responsible for clearing the trails in the spring, and constructing new trails for hiking and biking in our area.
