Boundary girls' fastpitch closes with a bang

Last week was the windup double knockout tournament for junior and senior girls’ fastpitch.

The games started on Thursday with senior division games in Grand Forks and junior games at the Christina Lake Community Hall.  The rain held out for the girls, a few mosquitoes showed.  Every one of the girls came out and played their best games.  There were some amazing hits, catches and base running.

First place for the junior division went to GF#1 (coached by Dan Makortoff, Kim and Keith Steinbach, and Don Steinbach). Second place went to GF#2 (coached by Willie Condruk and Debbie Smith) and third place to Christina Lake (coached by Mel Hoodle, Lisa Clemens and Bree Lockhart).

In the senior division, first place went to “LG’s plus 2”, second place went to the UNIFAB “Bafinus” and third place to the ROXUL “Lakers.”  What made the season a success was the commitment from the incredible coaches and energetic girls.  We would also like to thank the parent volunteers who helped throughout the year; scorekeeping, barbecuing, field prep, practices and cheerleading, etc.
