The local BMX club will be hosting the American Bicycle Association sanctioned provincial races this weekend at City Park in Grand Forks.

Friday, the club will have its regular race (which is usually held on Wednesday). This race will start at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday is the Race for Life with all proceeds going to B.C. Children’s Hospital to help fight leukemia. This race starts at 2 p.m.

Sunday is the provincial championship, which will also be a double point event.

It starts at 11:30 a.m. and will go until around 3 p.m.

Registration takes place an hour before start times at the track located in City Park.

Astrid Kihl, who does registration for the event, said they expect about 100 riders, ranging in ages from as young as three years old to adults. The riders usually stay at the city campground near the track.

“It’s a great weekend, if you’re a BMX racer, to accumulate ABA points,” Kihl said.

There will be stands for spectators and concession.
