Grand Forks RCMP are asking for residents’ help identifying a suspect in the ongoing investigation of a break-in at a local jewelry store.

“In an effort to further the police investigation, surveillance photos of the alleged suspect are being released. The suspect was seen wearing a black balaclava with a skull print, a black leather jacket and dark jeans,” said a release posted to the department’s website.

The break-in was reported to RCMP on Dec. 30, 2016, and RCMP have confirmed that approximately $100,000 in jewelry was stolen.

RCMP have not yet confirmed the pictures released are regarding the break-in at Florence’s Optical Jewellery and Gifts, although the dates of incidents coincide.

Grand Forks RCMP reported at the time of the break-in a Florence’s that the store had been accessed using “a cutting tool from a neighbouring vacant store.”
