In a surprise twist, City of Grand Forks Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Doug Allin tendered his resignation on Monday.

The City released the information in a statement around lunch on Monday, following an in-camera meeting of council that morning.

"Mr. Doug Allin has tendered his resignation from his position as the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Grand Forks effective March 24th, 2017," reads the statement posted to the city's website and released to media. “'I would like to thank the Council & Staff for their hard work and dedication over the last several years,'" reads a quote attributed to Allin in the press release. "'It has been a pleasure to serve the community and be a part of the development of the organization.'”

Allin was hired in February 2015 at the CAO. He had previously worked with the city from 2012-14, and his contract was terminated in 2014. He was rehired in 2015 following the election of the current city council.
