The B.C. Green Party has nominated a candidate in the Boundary-Similkameen riding, only a little over a month before the May 9 provincial election.
Vonnie Lavers, based in Oliver, B.C. is an entrepreneur with experience in public relations and non-profit leadership, according to information provided by the Green Party. Lavers was originally born in Newfoundland and Labrador, although is a long-time B.C. resident. She was given the Governor General's award in 2012 for "her commitment to providing healthy food to families in need."
Lavers' nomination was announced Thursday afternoon. She will be facing incumbent MLA and Liberal Party candidate Linda Larson, as well as NDP candidate and Grand Forks city councillor Colleen Ross.
