LETTER: Volunteers lead to great quilt show

Editor:

The Sunshine Quilters Guild of Grand Forks held a very successful quilt show over the Labour Day weekend at the curling rink.

This event was entirely planned, organized and held by volunteers. Many thanks are publicly due to everyone who had a part in the show.

Thank you to everyone who came to the show to see the 200-plus pieces of guild members’ quiltwork. Your many positive comments and enthusiasm for our art are greatly appreciated. Whether you’re a local or came from far away, we enjoyed meeting you all.

Thank you to all the members of the guild. You worked very long hours with great skill and patience to make the beautiful pieces displayed, donated items for door prizes and the sale and silent auction tables, volunteered time to work at many jobs during the show, baked cakes and made sauces for the tea, organized before the show, kept everything going smoothly from behind the scenes, and cleaned up afterward.

And you always wore smiles. Thank you to our quilt show convener for bringing it all together. Thank you to the guild members’ husbands, family and friends who cheerfully gave their time and labour with the heavy work and a lot of the not-so-heavy work too.

Thank you to the vendors who brought their beautiful wares for everyone to buy and for your door prize donations.

Thank you to the many local businesses that so graciously and generously donated items for our silent auction table and door prizes. Also, thanks to the Grand Forks International (GFI) baseball tournament for announcing our show; the show happened at the same time as the tournament.

Thank you to the management of the curling rink for the venue. We hope to see you all again at our next show!

S. Alcock, President, Sunshine Quilters Guild
