LETTER: The farce that is B.C. Ferries

BC Ferries’ executive board confirmed that former CEO David Hahn’s pension payments total $43,000 per month for the next five years.

Editor:

The British Columbia Ferries’ executive board confirmed this week that former CEO David Hahn’s pension payments total $43,000 per month for the next five years – that’s per month.

Many people in British Columbia would be happy to earn $43,000 a year.

Mr. Hahn’s salary while CEO of the failing ferry corporation was $1.13 million, with an additional $1.7 million in bonuses.

Not bad for the head of a company that lost $16.5 million in his final year and sunk to the lowest ridership in 21 years.

All of Mr. Hahn’s earnings were from taxpayer money.  The Liberals seem very liberal at spending our money.

The fault lies not with Mr. Hahn, who took the people of British Columbia for all he could, but with Ms. Clark, the premier who allowed this travesty to take place.

This situation is obscene at best and criminal at worst.
