After the storm of July 20, there was a tremendous effort by FortisBC, Telus, etc. to get services back in the community. I’m sure that I speak for most of the area in offering a huge “thank you” to all that made the extra effort and put in all the overtime to get everything back to the way it was.

I would also like to praise the enormous effort made by an employee of Shaw Cable, Bob Gillespie.

He was called mid-afternoon on Saturday (July 21) to try to get our cable back into operation. He arrived at the main cable box, found that there was no power, and when he realized that this was also why no one in the area had house water or irrigation, he took it upon himself to track down a Fortis employee to get the power back on.

Both of these men worked until after 11 p.m. and finally got our water and cable working. Bob, again, thank you for going way above and beyond the call of duty!
