LETTER: Strangers show act of kindness

Earlier this year the Dacha, the cross-country ski hut at Marshall Lake, was vandalized.

If one were to glance at the logbook, it would be noticed that the Dacha is popular with skiers from beyond our area.

Two of these skiers are Chris and Phyllie Robb, from Calgary, who also have property near Midway and often ski at Marshall Lake.

When Chris and Phyllie caught wind of the damage to the Dacha, they put up signs and a tip/donation jar at a social function they hosted at their Norwegian Creek property.

They raised $200 and it should be noted that there is a good chance none, if any, of the people who donated knew of the existence of the ski trails and the Dacha prior to the event.

On behalf of the Phoenix Cross Country Ski Club, I would like to extend a very heartfelt thanks to those individuals who donated and especially to Chris and Phyllie for their generosity.

This is a good example of how one act of mean spiritedness can inspire polar opposite acts of kindness and sense of community.
