Re: RDKB, Demski in bylaw dispute (the Sept. 7 issue of the Grand Forks Gazette)

In response to the article in your paper regarding the RDKB ordering a citizen in a rural area to remove some buildings off his property, I for one question the right or authority of the regional government to make this order.

Who or what gives it the authority to decide what a homeowner has the right to do on his or her private property?

For over 100 years, we in the rural area made our homes and  outbuildings and we got along just fine and then, out of the blue, this regional mob was created without our knowledge or consent and now we find ourselves being ruled by a mob of dictators.

So let’s turn back the clock to 1914 when the First World War was fought, supposedly to defend our freedoms, and now turn to 2011 and see how much of our freedom has been lost and ask yourself, were the two world wars fought in vain?

Did our soldiers die fighting for a lost cause?

I was under the impression that government was by the people for the people and I do not recall having a say in a number of the freedoms that we have lost since as far back as I can remember.

I feel a strong need to question a number of rules and regulations and permits that we are faced with daily being created by “civil servants” on a power trip and living off our tax dollars like a pack of parasites.
