LETTER: Charity for animals

Editor:

It has come to my attention of late that the patrons of our local food bank are mainly pet owners and part of their monthly hamper should contain either cat food or dog food.

Unfortunately that is an item that is not donated regularly.  As a patron and also a pet owner, I and a few friends have come up with an idea to try and start a pet food bank for the low income pet owner families in Grand Forks.

I have researched over the Internet and received information from a large pet food bank in Pennsylvania and also from one in Vancouver.  It is a feasible project, there are resources that could be accessed locally and there are a few possible facilities available.  All that is needed is community interest.

What I would like to ask in this letter is this:  Is this a project that could benefit the Boundary area?  Are there any pet owners out there who would want to help out with this project?

You all know me as the owner of the dog named Beaver, he benefits greatly from the food bank when there is available dog food and dog treats.  I would like to help other pets benefit also when the food bank cannot.

Any support would be appreciated.  My e-mail is ronajude@gmail.com should you want any further information.
