LETTER: Be a dear and don't harm the deer

Having only received the June 15 issue of the Grand Forks Gazette, I am now writing about my opposition to a deer cull.

Editor:

Due to the recent Canada Post lockout, I have just received the June 15 issue of the Grand Forks Gazette.

I have never written to a newspaper before but I noticed the article regarding the “Plan for Deer Accepted” (i.e. to cull the deer).

This got my dander up. I am not in favour of any deer cull but am in favour of culling any city councillor who votes to cull the deer. There must be a better way.

What about transporting them to the forest as was once suggested and if there are fewer deer as reported in the article, why are we taking about it? What do you mean by distributing the meat? To whom? How disgusting is that?

We should be protecting the deer, not destroying them.

To see a mother deer walking with her fawns is so beautiful and wonderful, just ask a tourist or a child.

We should share with nature that is the beauty of our area.
