JULY 3 LETTER: Please don't move the recycle bins in Grand Forks

Please don’t move the recycle bins near the fire hall in Grand Forks.

Editor:

Please don’t move the recycle bins near the fire hall in Grand Forks.

As a downtown merchant of over 28 years, I know that these recycling bins located in their present area are beneficial to many people!

The downtown area is much tidier than before they were put in place.

Also it encourages everyone to recycle more.

And being a conscientious city, Grand Forks should make it as easy as possible for people to recycle, without transportation to the dump.

I feel this is backward thinking in an age when we should strive to go forward.

If the area around the bins are untidy? Get a city employee out there to tend to it.

My tax dollars should be used with the greater good at heart ... not to relieve someone’s concern about untidy areas that are overall positive to the whole world.

If this is done, I will have lost total faith in the thinking of council!

Please avert your eyes, if an area used for the greater good of the community and the world offends you. Better yet, go clean it up yourself!

Organize a work party once every four to six weeks.

There are many options other than moving the recycling bins from an area where they obviously are used!

Isn’t that the whole idea in the first place? I’m against that this idea would be entertained by a city that put this in place for its tax-paying city dwellers.

It makes no sense; it is not logical.
