Re: City scraps grant-in-aid system (story, April 10 issue)
How unfortunate some members of our city council have decided in their wisdom to scrap the grant-in-aid program.
How unfortunate some members of our city council have little or no social conscience. How unfortunate that those organizations that provide those less fortunate with opportunities have been left out in the cold.
We have lost a little of our sense of community. I believe our society’s obligation is for those with, to share a little with those that don’t.
They say that a measure of our society is how they treat those that have less. Certain members of our council obviously don’t believe this to be true.
Their truism is, “What I have is mine and too bad for those in need, that’s their problem not mine.”
