A few unrelated things to cover

Sometimes when you write a column you have so many things to cover you can’t write a column about just one thing. So here’s my column about whatever came to mind.

First off is hockey. I know, Monday night was pretty embarrassing to be a Canucks fan. But in some way I’m glad that this series won’t be a walkover for Vancouver.

Up until game three, I was under the impression that the only reason Boston wasn’t getting destroyed every game was because the Canucks had the ‘new series jitters.’

I’ve seen it before and it doesn’t always happen at the start of a new series; sometimes it happens in game four and lasts until overtime in game seven.

I want the Canucks to win the series, but a good hard-fought win is a lot more entertaining to watch.

A similar thing is going on in the other finals right now: the NBA finals. Every game coming down to the wire is what sports is about.

As for the Canucks, Monday night’s third period was just plain hard to watch. It was hard-fought, but Thomas in net was way too serious about saving goals. He didn’t look interested at all in all the shenanigans going on, which may be why he stopped pretty much everything thrown at him.

Next up: Biking. Lately I’m into biking. Not that I was ever not into biking. But the more I think about it the more it makes sense: As a form of exercise, as a mode of transportation and as a way to have fun. There’s nothing else that has that, well nothing I can think of, other than a pogo stick or a unicycle, but I don’t think I can ride either of those.

What about running? Running’s all right, but it doesn’t quite have the same zing that biking has.

I read an article about this girl who toured northern Japan on a bike recently. That’s what got me on about bikes. Just throw your sleeping bag, a tent and some trail mix on the back of your bike or in your pack and you’re good to go.

Lastly is Coffee. Sometimes I try to work late and get tired, but after a long day of drinking coffee I’m just not feeling it anymore. So I switch to energy drinks.

Problem is, because of all the caffeine I already get from coffee, I’m immune to them. And if I drink tea, well,  I’m not going to talk about tea.

That at least, has already been covered.
