It is with great sorrow and a deep love that we announce the loss of William "Bill" Strookoff, who passed away comfortably, with his family by his side, on March 18, 2024, at the age of 89.
Bill goes to join those who passed before him, including his beloved wife, Arlette.
He is survived by his son Terry Strookoff; daughter Zaina (Bert) McPherson; grandchildren Dave (Sheka), and Rob (Anna) McPherson; great-grandchildren Parker & Aria McPherson; and his best friend, his dog Charlie.
Born on September 26, 1934, to William and Molly Strookoff, Bill began his journey in Grand Forks, BC. As time went on, Grand Forks remained close to his heart, but he soon moved his love and admiration for the Boundary Country to Christina Lake, BC. Bill planted roots in Christina Lake, where he built his home and lived for 35 years.
Bill is remembered for his remarkable work ethic, taught by his father, and his many astonishing achievements, such as obtaining his pilot's license, holding 5 Journeyman tickets, and being on the Credit Union Board.
He was a devoted member of the Grand Forks community, always offering a helping hand and transportation to community projects. Bill was a philanthropist and advocate, being a part of the Chamber of Commerce and starting the Phoenix Foundation of the Boundary Communities.
When he had free time on his hands, he enjoyed a glass of red wine, even mastering the art of making his own! Bill adored his family and his furry friend and was an amazing father and partner.
He is loved and will be deeply missed.
In honour of Bill, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at the Christina Lake Community Hall: 90 Park Rd, Christina Lake, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boundary Lodge Assisted Living in Grand Forks.
