It is with great sadness that we announce Wilfred passed away after a short illness at Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks on Oct 1, 2020.
Wilfred was born in Grayson, SK in 1932 , and then moved to Dubuc SK when he was a young child where his family had a farm.
He married Evelyn Clark from Dubuc, SK on July 3, 1956 and they moved to Christina lake BC where he worked in road construction where he helped create the road to the Paulson Bridge.
Wilf and Evelyn lived at Christina lake for about 6 years where they had 2 children, Richard and Dorrie. In 1962 the family moved to Grand Forks where Wilf worked at Phoenix Mine for a short period and then as a transport truck driver. In 1973 he worked as a grader operator for Pope & Talbot until he retired in 1997.
Wilfred was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was always there to take care of his family and friends. He loved to be in the outdoors fishing, hunting and gardening.
Wilfred was predeceased by his son Richard, and is survived by his wife, Evelyn, daughter, Dorrie (Dick Skilling), granddaughters Mandy Nordahn (Troy Smith), and Amber Gordon (Brent Gordon), great grandchildren Jenna Smith and Carter Smith, his siblings, Bertha Switzer, Casper Marie) Mayer, Jerry Mayer, Bill Mayer, Ed (Elsie) Mayer.
Wilf was a simple and wise man, he will be missed tremendously by everyone in his life.
