It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Walter Kalmakoff on May 16, 2014. Walter was born in Shoreacres, BC on October 24, 1931, where he was raised and then moved to Grand Forks; where he met his wife Pauline and started a family. He was predeceased by the father Alex (1989) and mother Helen (1990). He is loving survived by, his wife Pauline of 57 years and his daughters Wendy (Tom) of Houston, BC and Beverley of Langley, BC, his son Victor (Sherri) of Calgary, Alberta; his grandchildren; Chelsea (Adam), Brittany, Deanna, Alicia, Jessica and Nathan. Also survived by his brother Alex (Florence) Kalmakoff and sister Helen Semenoff and numerous nieces and a nephew. Walter was a long term employee for 35 years to Pope and Talbot in Midway, BC. He enjoyed family life, photography, woodworking, gardening, dancing and traveling. After he retired, he and his wife spent time traveling, as well as being a great father to his children and a loving Deda to his grandchildren. His family received a lifetime of joy and love and are forever grateful for their husband, father and grandfather. A Celebration of Life was held on Thursday, May 22nd, 2014 at the Grand Forks Funeral Home. He was laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Forks, BC.
