September 9, 1942 - November 21, 2020
Vicki May Robison McNally died peacefully November 21, 2020, in Grand Forks, BC after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Vicki was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Sept. 9, 1942.
In 1946, the family moved to the Green Acre Ranch near Ennis, Montana, where she grew up and went to school. Vicki graduated as salutatorian from Ennis High School in 1960. She continued her education at Montana State College in Bozeman, graduating with a degree in Secondary Education.
After graduation, Vicki joined her parents, Wayne and Floral Robison, who were managing the Gang Ranch in British Columbia. It was there she met her husband-to-be, Curtiss McNally. Vicki and Curtiss were married in the fall of 1964.
Vicki and Curtiss spent their working years managing ranches around Kelowna, B.C., eventually retiring to Grand Forks in 2007.
Vicki was a voracious reader from an early age and books were her constant companion until she became ill. She also had a gift for writing. The family cherished her Christmas letters. A hand-written letter from Vicki was a gift of love and humour.
She was an avid quilter; friends and relatives will remember her colorful quilting projects. Vicki and Curtiss enjoyed traveling, taking their motor home to Alaska and driving south to "snowbird" in Yuma, Arizona.
There is a favorite family story of Vicki when she was four: One day a couple of cattle buyers drove up to the ranch house, got out of their car, and saw Vicki playing in the yard. One of them playfully asked "What's your name?" Without hesitation, she replied, "My real name is Vicki, but my Dad calls me Rabbit Ass".
She is survived by her son, Matt McNally, granddaughter Bonnie, and great grandchildren Cherokee and Otter; sisters Dixie (Jim) Marosok, Jerry (Dave) Wing, Patty (Gary) Dusenberry; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a son Morgan, grandson Blaine, daughter Kim, husband Curtiss, and sister Becky (David) Grauman.
Vicki was a private person but deeply loved her family and friends. She will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her and count her as a friend or relative.
A memorial will be held at a later (post-Covid) date. Vicki's ashes will be interred in the Robison family plot in McAllister, MT. Condolences may be sent to 827 Hendecourt Road, North Vancouver, BC V7K 2X5.
