Verna passed away peacefully on October 29, 2019 at the Castleview Care Center in Castlegar BC. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and many friends. Verna was born in Medicine Hat AB & moved to BC with her parents at age 16. She met Harold and they married in Clayburn BC on August 27, 1954, they started their family then moved to Grand Forks in 1960.
Verna was actively involved in the community, helping with Girl Guides, the Happy Horseman 4-H Club, the Boundary Stock Horse Assoc & the North Fork Community Club, she was always ready to lend a hand.
Verna was predeceased by Harold in 2016, as well as her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters & other family members. She leaves behind 4 daughters; Barb (Paul) Makortoff, Lorraine (Rick) Aldrich, Sheila (Pierre) Boucher & Donna (Lyle) Egely. 9 Grandchildren; Willow (Scott), Cody (Sharon), Meryha (Mike), Crystal, Tyler (Keigan), Adrian, Amy, Michael (Danielle), Matthew (Sara) and 16 great Grandchildren: Laine, Owen, Taylor, Will, Aly, Ben, Ireland, Ricky, Aveiry, Coral, Neveah, Tygen, Kodias, Mason, Astrid, Kira. Two sisters and numerous nieces & nephews.
A very special thank you to Dr. Lisa Vasil, the exceptional nurses & all the caring staff at the Castleview Care Center, also her many friends & neighbours who surrounded our family with caring hearts & helpful hands.
Cremation Services have been entrusted to Castlegar Funeral Chapel; a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
