February 22, 1936 - September 19, 2021
Vera Chernenkoff passed away peacefully in her sleep September 19 2021 surrounded by family in Grand Forks B.C.
She was predeceased by her parents Nora and Phillip Markin, siblings Mollie, Andy, Sam and Phillip.
She now joins her husband Nick Chernenkoff who passed away only 15 months before her. (June 2020).
Vera was born in Grand Forks on the same property she lived most of her life. She and her sister Mollie were very hard workers and together managed to build their mother a house. Before moving to New Westminster in their early twenties to start a restaurant. It was there she met her husband to be Nick also of Grand Forks who apparently loved her soup.
Vera moved back to Grand Forks in 1971 and helped people feel safe and comfortable around her. She loved to laugh, cook and feed family and friends in her beautiful kitchen she was so proud of.
Reaching out to many who needed a mother's or baba's touch generously sharing her love, affection and hugs. She also enjoyed bingo, casino slots and horoscopes, with her superpower of remembering everyone's birthday she ever met.
Vera will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Sandy and Julie, her grandchildren Justin, Sydney, Sarah and Nicolas, great grandchildren Matteo, Elizabeth, and Milo as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
