It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Sherry Lynn Makus (Morrissey), born January 31, 1963, at Powell River, B.C. Sherry passed away January 2, 2012, after a short hard fought battle with cancer in her parent’s home at Powell River, B.C., surrounded by her family.

She leaves behind her husband Ian Makus, son Broden D’Angio (Monique), daughter Katelyn D’Angio (Terence), parents John and Josephine Morrissey, brothers Robert (Cher) and Richard (Sherry), in-laws Lloyd and Sharron Makus, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. All who knew Sherry loved her immensely and it is the joyful memories of her smile, laughter and one of a kind personality that comforts those of us she has left behind. Even though Sherry was only a member of the Grand Forks community for two months, she was shown a great deal of friendship and made to feel welcome.

I would like to take this opportunity to specifically thank the staff of Boundary Hospital and Hardy View Lodge for their kindness, compassion and extraordinary level of generosity. A special thanks to Sherry’s family physician for his diligent medical attention to Sherry at the start of her illness. Stubberfield Funeral Home Ltd. of Powell River had care of arrangements.
