RUTH LLEWELLYN

October 30, 2015

Ruth Llewellyn (Wilson), born Nov. 11, 1918 passed away peacefully at Hardy View Lodge Oct. 30, 2015. Just 12 days short of her 97th birthday, she had a full life, born in South Shields England, she attended college and thereafter taught primary school for 45 years, both in England and after immigrating to Canada in 1949. She settled in Victoria, B.C. where she met Ian Llewellyn and married, they lived in many communities across Canada as Ian was Air Force.

They eventually settled in the Vancouver area most of their lives. Retiring at age 63 years, they moved to Grand Forks in the mid 90’s following their one son Rick. Ruth’s interests beyond teaching were in the arts and travel, especially Greece. Never one to sit still she was very active in volunteer work after retirement.

She is survived by their one son Rick (Vickie) of Grand Forks. Having lived a long and healthy life she has been predeceased by her parents, her brother (Richie), husband (Ian ), grandson (Clarke) and all her other immediate family.

Ruth has requested no service, cremation has taken place and her ashes, by her request will be scattered with other family members. Although she will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her, we must appreciate how she touched us all and left us better persons for knowing her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Boundary Lodge and Auxiliary Lodge (Hardy View) for their kindness and care of Ruth the last two years.
