April 29, 1940 - December 7, 2020
Ross Deal, a proud veteran, a proud farmer and a proud Irishman and long-time resident of Grand Forks, passed away on December 7th, 2020 at the age of 80.
Ross was predeceased by his parents, Father & step mother- Gordon & Grace Deal & Vi McIntosh, sister - Ruth & brother - Russel.
He survived by his loving wife, Delores of 38 years & daughters, Celinda (Ryan) Galloway, Celeste (Nathan) Hein grandchildren - Mason & Dayton. And his most loyal companion Charlie, the dog. Also, lots of extended family & friends.
Ross was born in Regina, Sask on April 29th, 1940. He grew up in the Orange home orphanage, in Indian Head, Sask.
Ross enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy at the young age of 17, where he served his country for 20 years with honor. He was as a Petty Officer - First Class and served in the Queens Royal guard, 3 times, he fought in the Vietnam War, and served with the Federal Solicitor's General Department were he became knowledgeable with law. Ross was a proud veteran, receiving many awards and metals for his service.
Ross was a hard worker. His rough hands had many stories to tell. He loved working with his hands whether it was building, planting, or fixing things. Ross was always willing to lend a hand. Ross had many of jobs in his lifetime, mainly a welder, fabricator and steel worker. He was a loving husband and father, but his most favorite job was being a farmer.
Ross lived in Sask & Alberta for many years, but farming is what brought Ross to B.C. He lived in the Grand Forks for 25 years. Planting, raising, growing and harvesting, was the way of life for a prairie man in beautiful BC.
After Ross decided to retire from farming, he and his wife, Delores, moved to Quesnel, B.C for 12 years. He had heard the fishing was good there! Ross and his wife returned to Grand Forks 2 years ago, to be with his family.
Ross had a lot of passions. He had a love for farming, sailing, curling, boxing, fishing, hunting, drawing, all animals, wildlife, studying law, John Deere tractors, and Ford trucks! He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife and daughters and watching his grand children grow.
Ross was a true fighter and will be greatly missed by all who has the pleasure of being a part of his life. The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses & doctors at the boundary hospital, the dialysis unit, community home care, GF ambulance attendants, and the employees at Boundary Lodge and Phoenix manner, who all played a large role in the past 2 years.
The Family held a private interment, on Monday, December 14th, 2020 at the Evergreen ceremony in Grand Forks, BC.
