September 1, 1924 - September 16, 2024

In loving memory ~

Only two weeks ago, Rose Boltz celebrated her 100th Birthday. Then suddenly, on September 16th, 2024, we had to say goodbye to our dear, kind mother.

Rose Boltz was born on September 1st, 1924, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. She was the sixth child of Joseph and Anna Hofmann. Rose had four younger siblings. Rose 's surviving sister Dorothy is 88 years old.

In 1949, Mom married our Dad, Daniel Boltz in Greenwood, B.C. They raised five children, Anne, Jane, Bill, Theresa and Marilynn. They were blessed with 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mom was so excited whenever they visited, because most of them lived in Alberta. The house would be filled with the scent of freshly baked buns to welcome her family. It was her way of showing her love for all of us.

Throughout the years, Mom and Dad didn't travel too far. While Bill looked after the ranch, they went to Kamloops and Williams Lake to show and sell their Hereford bulls. They also made several trips to visit Mom 's family in Muenster, Saskatchewan.

For 72 years, Mom lived at the ranch in Midway, B.C. At age 95, she broke her hip. After making a full recovery, she lived at Parkview Manor in Midway for one year. Then in July 2021, Rose moved to Williams Lake, B.C. and lived at Age Care Cariboo Place. We are grateful to the staff for their kindness shown to Mom. Rose's dear friends kept in touch by phoning and writing letters. Rose faced many difficult times in her life. With her strong faith in God, she was able to carry on with the love and help of family and friends.

Mom enjoyed sewing clothes for us and knitting beautiful sweaters and many afghans as the family grew. All her life, music gave her great enjoyment, especially singing weekly in church and playing the guitar to lead sing-alongs and being in the glee club "The Singing Kettles". She was still singing four days before she died. Rose was an avid gardener growing abundant vegetables every year and oh, so many beautiful flowers! Some of those were entered in the Rock Creek Fall Fair and were prize winners!

For the immediate and extended family of Rose Boltz, the funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenwood B.C. Interment to follow at the Greenwood cemetery. We invite all Rose's Friends to join the Family for a Celebration of Life and luncheon at 1:30 PM at the Greenwood Community Hall.

We are joyful for Mom's long life well lived, but we are also very sad because we will miss her so much.
