Roger Emmitt Eakin aged 87, passed away on April 23, 2012, at his place of residence in Oliver, B.C. Roger was born on April 27, 1924, in the USA at Oakridge Lane County, Oregon, and immigrated to Canada at the age of one. He lived and worked mostly in the Cariboo and North Thompson areas. He was married to his wife Ruby for 45 years until her time of passing. He cleared and built "Lac des Roches" (currently known as Eagle Island) fishing resort in the Bridge Lake area. Roger was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, was well respected in all his communities of residence.

Roger was predeceased by his wife, Ruby; brother, Jim; and sister, Emaline. He is survived by his sister, Verneta Bruce of Hinton Alberta; his son, Robert (Bob) Rowan and wife Jennifer of Nanimo, B.C.; his daughter, Loraine Pearson and spouse Peter of Oliver, B.C.; and by four grandchildren: Glady's, Linda, Robert Rowan and Curtis Pearson, all of their respected communities.

No service will be held at this time. A private family celebration will be held at a future date. Hansons Arbor Funeral Chapels was in care of arrangements.
