July 16, 1950 - March 10, 2020
It is with deep sadness we announce that Bob Bowering passed away on March 10, 2020 at the age of 69. Bob died at home in Grand Forks, BC with his wife and children holding him in love.
Bob was born to parents Gerald and Pamela (Hickman) Bowering. He was the third of four children. Bob grew up in Naramata where his family were orchardists. This sparked a life-long love for the outdoors and a respect for nature. In 1972, Bob married Natalie Rezansoff in Grand Forks, BC. As a newlywed couple they lived in Penticton for four years before moving to Grand Forks where they settled and raised three children. Over many years together, they built their family log home and planted a small orchard. Bob spent lots of time outdoors picking wild asparagus, mushrooms, huckleberries, rosehips and getting firewood. He also loved gardening, camping, fishing year-round and baking cookies with his grandchildren. Bob and Natalie had a passion for travel and had hoped to do more in retirement.
Bob Bowering was a welder/fabricator by trade. He also had an uncanny knack for mechanics. Before retirement he worked for a local sawmill and operated his own steel fabrication business.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Natalie; daughter Sandy (Stuart) Dunley-Owen, son Steven (Janette Mercado), son Russell (Missy Kinakin); five grandchildren: Olivia, Emily and Ethan Dunley-Owen, Lily and Razi Bowering; three siblings: brother Doug (Elaine), sister Wendy (Hubert) Binggeli and brother Neil (Debbie): three sisters-in-law: Kathleen Rezansoff , Elsie Zibin and Mary Rezansoff , as well as many nieces and nephews.
A burial service was held at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Forks, BC on Friday, March 20, 2020. Due to Coronavirus, all other services were cancelled.
