Bob passed away peacefully on March 12, 2010, at Boundary Hospital after a lengthy battle with a heart condition. He was born on July 3, 1928 in Wright, Quebec. As a young man he came to B.C. to find work and never looked back. He worked many jobs but mainly in the logging and mining industries, from the Queen Charlotte Island to Alberta. His last job was driving the huge coal trucks in the coal mine out of Edson, Alberta, where he was forced to retire due to ill health. Bob and his wife, Lorraine then returned to Grand Forks where they have family and friends and enjoyed travelling and camping. Bob was proud of his daughter Lynda and her family, and especially being able to spend time with his great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, Eva and Roland Ellard; two brothers, Orville and William; three sisters: Peggy, Kay and Betty. He was also predeceased by two step-children, Arlene Kemp and Ken Scherer.He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; and his only daughter, Lynda (Graham) Bedard and their children: son Joel and daughters Kristen (Dave) Vrabic and children Dezarai, Josia and Austin; and Lynda’s daughter, Chantelle (Dwayne) Froleck and sons Jaidon and Kade; step-daughters: Debra (Steve) Zibin and their daughters, Audra and Amanda; Corinne (Paul) Kazakoff and their children, Becky and Evan and step-grandchildren, Chris Kemp, Jenny Scherer and her daughter Mackenzie and Cara Scherer and her son Damien. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Norris Baimbridge and his daughter Kathy, and Sid (Lydia) Hendry and his children, Shirley and Michael; sister-in-law, Joyce Ellard and her daughter Kim, and a very special niece, Edna (Roger) Neal from England.There will be no service by request. Cremation has taken place and Bob will be laid to rest at a later date.Donations may be made in memory of Bob to the B.C. Heart and Stroke fund, or a charity of your choice.
