Raymond Shelvey Redford was born Feb 02, 1928 in the small rural town of Tantallon, Sask and went to be with his Lord and Saviour Feb 19, 2021 in Grand Forks, BC.
He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Breitkreitz, his father Raymond Henry Redford and his mother Clara Paynter. Also predeceased by his brothers Leslie and James and his sisters Hazel and Evelyn.
He is loving survived by his children Dale (Nancy) Redford and Sharon (Edward) Trainer, both from Grand Forks, BC. His grandchildren; James (Melissa) - St. Albert, Alberta, Brian (Vicki) - Hunter River, PEI, Carolyn (Garett) - Vancouver, BC, Daniel - Grand Forks, BC, Arianna (Brian) - Edson, Alberta, Adam (Rachel) - Scotch Creek, BC, Noah - Grand Forks, BC Joshua (Larissa) - Hinton, AB, Michael (Hailey) - Lethbridge, AB and 9 and counting great grandchildren.
Raymond loved curling with his brothers and won many bonspiels. He joined RCAF in 1947 where he trained as a meteorological (weather) technician where he briefed pilots prior to flight departures. He served 25 years with the RCAF then another 18 years in the Public Service at Pearson International Airport in Toronto. Ray loved travelling with his spouse Ruth; they would spend many winters in Florida and summers visiting family in BC. He loved his favourite TV programs, unscrambling word puzzles and completed over 200 picture puzzles.
He had many friends at the Grand Forks Gospel Chapel where he worshipped regularly, served as an usher with a pronounced gift of 'encouragement'. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ dearly and has been long anticipating his graduation to Heaven, where he now resides.
A special word of thanks to the staff and residents at Silver Kettle Village for all the encouragement Ray received over the past 9 years. Also, a thank you to Dr. Nathan Dalla Lana for the ongoing medical care and Dr. Gwen Campbell for her compassionate presence and end-of-life support.
