Dad died at hospice on July 29, 2012, with his family at his side. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Donat Charles (1964) and Wilma Hazel (1967). He fought a tough battle with cancer right until his last breath. Dad retired from the RCN as a Petty Officer Bosun. He served during the Korean War on HMCS Athabaskan. He received his CD Medal personally by HRH Prince Phillip as a LS. He was proud of his four peacekeeping medals and his commitment to his country. The sea never left his heart nor did his shipmates. Dad moved to Grand Forks/Christina Lake after his retirement from the navy where he worked for the school board, was president for the NDP for the Boundary district and served as a special constable with the RCMP for many years, a role he really enjoyed. He was also Past President of the RCL Branch # 59. Dad enjoyed his youth skating on Christina Lake and playing ice hockey. This began his lifetime passion for Hockey and the Montreal Canadiens. He enjoyed his very last Stanley Cup game with his grandsons in Victoria. His last days were filled with love and many memories.

He is survived by daughters: Lisa Church (Rick), Lynne Wilson and Davida Patten; son, Ramon Malcolm (Denise); sisters: Bonnie McInnes (Bill), Lorraine Bradley and Del Bolduc (Bev); grandchildren: Graedon, Connor, Kelsey, Travis, Keisha, Nathan and Gianna.

Fair Winds and Following Seas, Dad.

Simply Cremations of Sidney, B.C., was in care of arrangements. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
