Peter William Plotnikoff passed away peacefully during the early evening of July 6th, 2019 with his loving wife Gail at his side. Peter ("Pete") is predeceased by his mother and father Molly and William Plotnikoff, brother Harry and Elaine Plotnikoff, Bill (Marianne) Plotnikoff, and is survived by his sister Olga (Don) Baron of Vernon, BC.
Pete graduated from the University of British Columbia Pharmaceutical program and began a successful 47-year career as a Pharmacist in Grand Forks, BC. Starting with his first store, Cascade Drugs in 1963, Peter grew that business to launch his largest business project in the early 1980's known as Pharmasave. Peter and Gail together offered business and gift selection that reflected a large city inventory in the small town of Grand Forks. Their business was the center of the business community where people congregated, especially during the Holiday seasons when gift shopping was at its peak.
Peter knew his customers well and assisted in their health care. His clients meant more to him than just customers; they were part of his daily life and his contact with people mattered to him. He was a people-person that took time to talk with folks, share jokes, laughs and remember conversations between visits. Pete was a big part of his customers lives in the valley and they never forgot him for that kind of service.
Pete was a true athlete and excelled at most sports. He enjoyed the company of his friends when either playing hockey, skiing or playing golf and in all instances, laughter and joking were a big part of the fun. His zest for life, his generosity, thoughtfulness, and passionate pursuit of activities he loved are inspiring qualities from someone that lived life well and shared the experience with many others.
During Pete's last moments, his wife Gail told him it was okay to leave and that he would be playing golf tomorrow with his friends. His dream of playing golf with his friends are once again granted and tomorrow is a better day. We will miss him and remember him forever.
