Peter was born February 7, 1936 in Pelly, Saskatchewan to Peter J. and Vera (Negraeff) Popoff. The family moved to B.C. when Peter was an infant. Peter was home-schooled with his sisters. He married Laverne Popoff on December 29, 1957. Their family consists of Karen, Sharen, Sandra, and Andy.

Some of Peter’s accomplishments in life were: being certified as a log scaler, sawyer, millwright, partner in Morrissey Creek Sawmills, co-founder of Parta Industries, and founder of Morrissey Creek Building Supplies. He was an avid Rotary member for many years, was a Paul Harris Fellowship member and acted as club president. Over the course of his life Peter completed many different vocational and adult upgrading educational programs.

Peter and Laverne enjoyed travel, going across Canada and most of the U.S. and wintering in Arizona for over 20 years. Peter was an avid wood carver and golfer.

One of Peter’s greatest decisions was to become a member of Alcoholics Anonymous over 42 years ago, changing his life and the lives of those around him forever.

Peter is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Laverne, daughters Karen, Sharen (Don Tarrant), Sandra (Dave Murphy) and son Andy (Shannon). His grandchildren; Kelly, Katrina, Eryn, Peter, Noah, Nathaniel, Makena and Hannah. His sisters: Mildred Tarasoff (Alex), Anne Koftinoff (Pete) and Lizza Walker (Norman), numerous friends and family members.

A celebration of life will occur on April 29th, 2013, 1:00 pm at the City Park Seniors’ Hall. The family prefers no flowers please and if interested, a donation to a charity of choice. Thank you to the funeral home staff and medical staff for their support. Rest in peace. Get a hole in one.
