March 24, 1937 - September 11, 2020
Pauline Kalmakoff passed away suddenly and peacefully at Boundary District Hospital in Grand Forks, BC on September 11, 2020, at the age of 83 years.
Pauline was born to Bill and Mary Horkoff on March 24, 1937 in Grand Forks, BC. Pauline attended school in Grand Forks and lived her entire life there.
Pauline met the love of her life Walter Kalmakoff and they were married on December 1, 1956. They were happily married for 57 years. Pauline and Walter spent their lives raising their family in Grand Forks. Pauline enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, taking care of the family, the vegetable garden, and her many flowers. They moved from the country in 2003 to be closer to town.
Pauline loved gardening, cooking, dancing, doing all kinds of crafts, and travelling. She was fortunate to have taken cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean, as well as trips to Asia, Costa Rica, throughout the United States and Canada. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She was a member of The Red Hat Society and enjoyed her time meeting new friends.
Over the years, Pauline had lost several people she dearly loved including her parents Bill and Mary, her brother Billy, her loving husband Walter, her brother Jim, her brother-in-law Alex, and two sisters-in-law Patsy Horkoff and Helen Semenoff.
She will be missed by her children Wendy (Tom) Head of Houston, BC, Beverley of Vancouver, BC, Victor (Sherri) Kalmakoff of Calgary, AB, six grandchildren Chelsea (Adam), Brittany, Deanna, Alicia, Jessica and Nathan, and two great grandchildren Emily and Kaylee. She is also survived by her brother George Horkoff, sisters-in-law Renske Horkoff and Florence Kalmakoff, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Boundary District Hospital nurses and physicians for their care of Pauline during her time there and Deborah of the Grand Forks Funeral Home for her assistance and support.
