It is with incredible sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul Kazakoff after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cory Kazakoff; daughter Becky Sagal (Matt), son Evan Kazakoff (Chantelle), grandchildren Theron (6), Finley (3), Tanner (3), new baby girl due this February, his brother John Kazakoff (Zuula), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was born in Grand Forks to Mike and Ann Kazakoff, were he met (and later married) the love of his life Cory (Scherer). After completing secondary school he went back to work at the Pope & Talbot Mill (Interior) where he worked for 43 years. He later took courses to become a Journeyman Millwright Planerman and taught his co-workers lumber grading.
Paul was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and anything outdoors. With Cory by his side, they took many adventures of traveling. Dads greatest accomplishment was his family. He was the greatest father any child could ask for. He coached Evan's baseball team and took him to every hockey practice and all of his tournaments. He spent countless hours making sure Becky could pitch a strike, catch any fastball and cheered her on to home base. And when his grandkids came along, he lit up like the brightest star in the sky... There wasn't anything that could keep him away from his family, who was his everything.
Paul will be deeply missed by everyone who's lives he touched. He always walked with a smile on his face and had kind words to everyone he greeted. Though he isn't with us any longer, his legacy lives on through the lives of his children.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on August long weekend (details to come). In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A sincere thank you to Dr. Coleshill and staff at the Boundary Hospital for the care provided to him during his illness. Also would like to thank Deb and Aaron Baker at Grand Forks Funeral Home for the arrangements and assisting the family.
We appreciate all the friends and family that visited and expressed condolences. We are grateful to everyone.
