It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Paul John Thiessen on September 30th 2010. Paul was born in Kamloops, B.C., on July 13, 1960. Paul was an amazing father and friend. He was known in his community for his kind heart and helpful spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand. Paul was survived by his Mother, Mary Eleanor; brothers, David and Steven; daughters, Amanda and Elizabeth; and Granddaughter, Olivia; as well as many other family and friends. Memorial services will be held in Calgary, Alberta, and Bragg Creek, Alberta, where he spent many days enjoying the outdoors. Everden Rust Funeral Services were in care of arrangements.

During her travels Joan always found ways to express herself through art. Her favorite medium was oils but she has also worked with charcoal, pen, etchings and has done some sculptures. Joan has had art shows in Prince George, Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Penticton, Summerland, Edmonton, Deer Lake and Grand Forks.

Joan is survived by her brother Bob, her four children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff at the Parkview Manor, Grand Forks and Trail Hospitals.

A celebration of life will be held at the Grand Forks Art Gallery on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grand Forks Art Gallery or to a charity of your choice. Grand Forks Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
