It is with great sadness that we announce that Oscar Bedard lost his brave fight with leukemia at the age of 71 years. Oscar’s life ended peacefully on Sunday, May 5th, 2013 at Vernon, B.C. Oscar will be remembered by his wife Eve, and his four children and their spouses; David, Carla, Gordon, Natasha, Kelly, John, Greg, Melissa and his six grandchildren. Also one brother, Gerald Bedard, three sisters Shirley Fisher, Joyce Kirk and Bernadette Peterson.

Oscar graduated from Grand Forks High School and went on to University of Victoria to complete teacher training. His first school was at Beaverdell Elementary. He went on to complete his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. Oscar was Superintendent of Schools for several years. Those of us lucky enough to have come into contact with him always learned and were often inspired. His footprint is indeed large and he will live on in the hearts of all he touched. Celebration of Oscor’s life was held Friday, June 28, 2013 at Vernon, B.C.
