Our mother, Olive (Ollie) Kathleen Walker (94) passed away in Hardy View Lodge April 3, 2020 and our family is completely heartbroken.
Ollie is predeceased by her beloved husband Ron Walker and survived by her children Dan (Theresa), Robert (Cathy), Gordon (Leslie), Pat (Gavin), Allen (Siobhan), Keith (Kathy), Sue (George), grandchildren Christina, Gareth, Angela, Alexa, Caden, Danielle, Alex, Sean, Matthew, Zachary and her great grandson Gavin.
Ollie was born in Trail and raised in Rossland BC. She married Ron in 1952. They moved to Christina Lake and purchased Silver Birch Resort in 1953.
Ollie ran the campsite, raised 7 children and had her own ceramic business as well as being a very active member in her community.
Ollie was Brown Owl for many years and was also the Grand Forks Credit Union's Fat Cat Lady at the Christina Lake Elementary School for 41 years. She was a volunteer in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Community Hall (known today as the Auxiliary to the Christina Lake Community Association) almost since the Auxiliary began, a lifetime director of the Christina Lake Community Association and a director for the past decade with Christina Lake Tourism Society.
Her talents included, cake decorating, sewing, knitting, painting, quilting just to mention a few. She also loved music and played the accordion, organ and violin.
Ollie was famous at the lake for her home made buns, no bake sale or community event was complete without them.
Thank you mom, we will miss you forever.
