April 5, 1933 - March 22, 2021
Nellie Relkoff (née Skrepnekoff) was born on April 5, 1933 in Grand Forks, B.C. to Mike and Nellie Skrepnekoff.
Raised on the banks of the Kettle River along with her three sisters and the "Ruckle Gang," Nellie was an exceptional student, who, above all, aspired to be a mother and genuinely good person. She realized this dream in her twenties, when she and her husband, Sergei Relkoff, welcomed four children: Karen, Ken, Larry, and Natalie.
In addition to working outside the home, not a day passed without tending one of her many projects, such as growing impeccable vegetable and flower gardens. She was an amazing cook, able to create feasts using the contents of just a single picnic basket at the family's Christina Lake property.
When her grandkids arrived, her kind, playful spirit shone. From keeping little snowmen in the freezer, to organizing extravagant Easter Egg hunts, and attending all manner of games and recitals - even diving for a volleyball at age 78 - she ensured everyone was appreciated and loved for who they were.
This same caring, dedicated, yet light-hearted nature remained through her journey with dementia until her passing at Hardy View Lodge on March 22, 2021 at the age of 87. To all who knew her she wished to say, "I hope the only time I ever hurt you was when I left you all."
Nellie is predeceased by her parents, Mike and Nellie Skrepnekoff, sister Vera Popoff, and husband Sergei Relkoff.
Her legacy of strength and quiet kindness survives in her sisters Olga (Harold) Chursinoff and Mary (Mel) Pulvermacher, sons Ken (Anne) Relkoff and Larry Relkoff, daughters Karen Relkoff and Natalie (Martin) Schafer, and grandchildren: Vanessa Fraser (pregnant with first great grandchild), Caylin Relkoff, Allie Relkoff, and Megan Relkoff, and Sister-In-Law Laura Makortoff.
Interment at USCC Cemetery. May She Rest In Peace.
